Description: The Cumulative Annual Water Volume Points are centre point locations within lakes or major rivers that sum the total annual water volume taken from all active water licenses on those water bodies for a given year. The sum of the actual annual water volume is calculated across these active yearly licenses and is stored as the 'Sum_Actual_Annual_Vol_m3' field in the cumulative annual water volume. This data is derived from registered water licenses across the North Slave Region, South Slave Region, Sahtu Administrative Region, and Inuvialuit Settlement Region using information from the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board, Wek'eezhii Land and Water Board, Gwich'in Land and Water Board, Sahtu Land and Water Board, and Inuvialuit Water Board by Caslys Consulting Ltd. for the given year. This dataset builds upon the Human Disturbance Mapping project for the GNWT, where a series of spatial datasets were created with the key objective to create an accurate and up-to-date human disturbance footprint that can be used to support land and water management decisions. These datasets were created based on existing baseline GIS data, aerial and satellite imagery, as well as license records from online registries to facilitate the calculation of cumulative annual water volumes per lake. All water license locations that draw from a given lake or major river have been positioned inside the 1:50,000 lake or river polygon. This approach allows for geoprocessing to update the cumulative annual water volumes per lake or river by associating each water license with the GIS lake or river polygon dataset. This data is updated annually and may not reflect the most up to date data.This feature represents generalized point locations inside lakes or major rivers where more than one current water license draws water. The cumulative annual water volume (in cubic metres) is calculated from actual annual volumes drawn under license and reported in the registry of annual water usage reports for a given year. Information is compiled from the water license dataset derived from data on the following registries: Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board, Wek'eezhii Land and Water Board, Gwich'in Land and Water Board, Sahtu Land and Water Board and Inuvialuit Water Board by Caslys Consulting Ltd.This data is updated annually and may not reflect the most up to date data.
