Description: January 23, 2012This dataset is made up of 12 points . 6 pointsw(1:250k scale Lakes) extracted from:Database Connections\NWTCG SDE YKVSQL12P.sde\sdw.DBO.LocationReference\sdw.DBO.LOCND1_TOPONYM. Nonacho Lake and Stark Lake were added in manually by digitizing a point in the 1:250k lake polygon.McGill Lake, Deep Lake, Fish Lake and Ekali Lake points came from the Canadian Geographical Names Database, at a 1:50k scale query, and were entered manually. These lakes have health advisory notices from the Department of Health and Social Services regarding consumption limits of fish caught in their waters. Hyperlinks to the advisories were added in a URL attribute column.
Description: Dataset created by Mark Wasiuta (Contaminats Intern/HSS) by merging data from multiple sources and averaging readings if they had the same location. Lakes were categorized according to their pH levels; pH < 7 = 1; pH = 7 = 2; pH > 7 = 3. The majority of the data set is pH data from Michael Palmer labelled YELLOWKN-#549609-v1-DATABASE_-_NORTH_SLAVE_WATER_QUALITY_-_CIMP_.XLS (received Jan.24/2013); with some data from Robin Staples labelled Coppermine_Lockhart Lakes Water Quality Data - Info Request (pH).xls (received Feb.4/2013); and some data from Claudia Haas based around PAS data for five lakes near Jean Marie River (received Jan.28/2013).Michael.Palmer@aandc-aadnc.gc.ca Robin.Staples@aandc-aadnc.gc.ca Claudia_Haas@gov.nt.ca
Description: This data set represent fire perimeter outlines. Un-burnt islands are included in the fire perimeter as are small internal lakes. The overall data accuracy should be assumed to be at 1:250,000 scale. There are known data gaps in this data set, one should not assume that all fires have been recorded. That being said this record is the most complete currently available data set for fire perimeters in the NWT. Omission and accuracy errors are much more prevalent for the beginning of the data set, particularly for the 1965 to 1975 period. The data set was updated in 2006 using the NWT fire files and Landsat images dating back to the beginning of the Landsat record. During this update Landsat fire perimeters were on screen digitized to an accuracy of 1;250,000. Since 2008 the source of the fire perimeter has been recorded in the SOURCE attribute field. The sources are GPS, MODIS and Landsat. Where this information is recorded the accuracy of the perimeter can be assumed to be 1:250,000 for GPS, 1:1,000,000 for MODIS and 1:25,000 for Landsat.
