Description: The Atlas Frameworks are a set of integrated base map layers which form part of a larger National-Scale Frameworks data collection. These data have been compiled at a scale of 1:1 000 000 with the primary goal being to indicate correct relative positioning with other framework layers rather than absolute positional accuracy.
Description: The Atlas of Canada Base Maps provide coverage of the entire Canadian landmass. Data elements are feature coded and structurally clean. Base map components are available in five scales and a number of data exchange formats. The 1:2 million and 1:7.5 million scales are the primary bases for all Atlas products. The 1:30 million scale data have been generalized from the two larger scales. The data set covers: drainage (coastlines, rivers, lakes), boundaries (federal, provincial, district, dividing lines), transportation (primary and secondary highways, selected ferry routes, rail networks), populated places, national parks. Atlas information is two-dimensional layered vector data. Access to information regarding these datasets and the capability to download images and data files, free of charge, is available through http://geogratis.cgdi.gc.ca.

Description: The National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) comprises digital vector data sets that cover the entire Canadian landmass. Geomatics Canada has digitized and structured thousands of topographic maps, creating a complete and uniform product that can be highly useful in a broad range of industries. The NTDB includes features such as watercourses, urban areas, railways, roads, vegetation, and relief. The organizational unit for the NTDB is the National Topographic System (NTS), based on the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). Each file (data set) consists of one NTS unit at either the 1:50,000 or 1:250,000 scale. Furthermore, the data is now available by themes within a file. The ground data is depicted through points, lines, and areas.

Description: This set of base maps was originally prepared in an analogue form for the production of the National Atlas 5th edition. They were used to overlay the thematic information used in the preparation of Atlas maps. The digital versions were derived from the original paper base maps in order to complete the 5th edition of the National Atlas.

Description: This data represents polygon features such as water bodies, intermittent lakes, foreshore flats, lagoons, reservoirs, dugouts, rivers, streams, sand bars, ditches, rapids, waterfalls, dams and marshes in the Northwest Territories.
Description: A joint venture involving the National Atlas programs in Canada (Natural Resources Canada), Mexico (Instituto Nacional de Estadística Geografía e Informática), and the United States (U.S. Geological Survey), as well as the North American Commission for Environmental Co-operation, has led to the release (June 2004) of several new products: an updated paper map of North America, and its associated geospatial data sets and their metadata. These data sets are available online from each of the partner countries for download. This data has been revised and re-released in 2006. The North American Atlas data are standardized geospatial data sets at 1:10,000,000 scale. A variety of basic data layers (e.g. roads, railroads, populated places, political boundaries, hydrography, bathymetry, sea ice and glaciers) have been integrated so that their relative positions are correct. This collection of data sets forms a base with which other North American thematic data may be integrated. Any data outside of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America included in the North American Atlas data sets is strictly to complete the context of the data. The North American Atlas - Bathymetry data set shows the depth in metres for ocean areas covered by the extent of the North American Atlas project. Isobaths (lines of equal depth) are provided for sea level (coastline, with depth = 1), 200, 500, and 2500 metres. Polygons bounded by these isobaths represent depth ranges of 0-200, 200-500, 500-2500, and greater than 2500 metres.Original name : OCE_NRCAN_NAatlas_NABathymetry_A from INAC, WR
